O Acesso à Ribeira das Cales IV ou Ribeira de João Gomes é Feito através da zonas das Babosas (Monte) juntos aos teleféricos #1. Siga a vereda do Curral dos Romeiros até encontrar a ponte onde se inicia este troço.
Saída:
Após R10 existe uma pequena vereda que se alcança com uma escalada. Tem então duas hipóteses, subir novamente para o monte (1h de subida) ou continuar a levada até ao Bom Sucesso, local onde deverá deixar outro carro #2.

Unfortunately the canyon was almost dry, luckily the remainig water in the pools was very clear and clean. R7 is much longer than mentionend in the sketch, a 20 meter rope was far too short in double. With 30 meters in double it worked well. R10 seems to be a bit more than 30 meters. So better bring longer ropes.
The drive up to the parking leads along the sledge route, so take care. There are many sledges and the road is very polished. Some driving skills are welcome.
The access among the cable car tourist is interesting, the moment we passed the second station, we have been alone. The passengers can observe the canyoneers from time to time.
The exit is easy to find, I placed a “cairn” on a big boulder. It is 30 meters after the last waterfall, a bit before the rock turns orange on the left bank. In some parts the levada walk is a bit climby, but with precaution it works well.
