  1. The canyon is completly rebolted now. I installed a few fixed ropes and the last two rappels are “chained” now. The last but one (C12) can also be downclimbed, the last one has anchors on the left (C15) and on the right (C10).

Due to the fires the access from the bridge in Faja dos Vinhaticos is clearly visible, but there are some vasps nests along it.
The walkup is 30 minutes and leads over a metal bridge which you can see from the parking, through the burned terraces, crosses the canyon over a second bridge, goes into the forrest and ends in burnt terraces and finally on the end of the Faja das Eguas road next to the water house.
The first waterfall is just 50 meters away, in the beginning there are two parallel lines, C8 and C5 with water or C6 and C13 almost dry. On the ridge between the two lines there is also a nest of vasps.
Next rappel is a C16 with handline, followed by about 200 m of walking, downclimbing and one short slide. You pass the bridge on which you crossed the river during approach. Another 50 meters and rappeling starts again: C10, slide, C4 + C3 or downclimbing, Levada on the left, handrail + C12, handrail + C7, the canyon narrows and is very green due to many springs, a bit of downclimbing, one rappel of 10 meters from an overhanging block.
The exit is close, you will reach the stairs on the right within 50 meters.
I collected one bag full of fresh garbage, cut out many trunks in the rappel lines and rebolted all but two rappels. The rest of the work will be done end of September.
The flow was variated during five consecutive days of work but always flowing, except the two rappels after the Levada on two days.
There was some garbage on the left line in the beginning – a bit of wood and an aluminium window frame, but to take this out is easy, because the entry is very close. And one old bathtub in the end. There are many exits during the tour.
Unfortunately due to the excessive fires in Serra de Agua, the water turns brwon quickly, but this should change after the next rainy period.
The picture shows the highest waterfall.

  3. Descido a 26-05-2015. Corria água em toda a ribeira, a vegetação está a recuperar depois das intempéries de 2010. O lixo na parte final do canyon torna-o desinteressante, apesar de alguns rapeis engraçados. Atenção ao equipamento que é reduzido.
